Description

This original book “Ancient roman cuisine” is inspired by the works of Apicius, Emperor Tibere’s cook. In order to make these 35 recipes feasible by present cooks, Brigitte Leprêtre tested them all. Proportions and cooking times were added whenever they were missing in the original descriptions.
Each ancient roman cuisine recipe is displayed on a double page. On one side, a photo illustrates the result. On the opposite page, a frame includes information related to various aspects of roman daily life.
Photographs of ancient objects and mosaics immerse the reader into a past that turns out to be much closer to us than we thought.
